Genius Hour Week 6

This quote suits my project for this week. Over the course of my Genius Hour project, I've tackled some "small fish". I've handmade some cards, I made a money tree, I transformed a plain white monogrammed letter into something that reflected my own style, and this week I went after Moby Dick!  Not sure if I have mentioned before but I enjoy going to craft shows but sometimes I see a craft and think 'I can make that'. The problem is always finding the time. This Genius Hour has given me the platform to express my creativity and force myself to take the time to do things that I enjoy.

 One of the crafts I've been wanting to make are wreaths. I love hanging wreaths on my door and in my classroom. I purchased all the materials I needed from my favorite budget friendly place, Dollar Tree. After watching several videos, I had my Fall/Thanksgiving Wreath. I'm hoping to have my Christmas wreath done by next week! 

 I was so excited after I was done! My family was coming over for Thanksgiving and I couldn't wait to tell them I had made it myself!

    That's an awesome wreath! Nice work. You definitely successfully tackled your whale. I really like how you included a narrated slide presentation showcasing your progress.

    Your wreath is absolutely beautiful. I know it was a Thanksgiving Day Hit! Your project is very inspiring...would you consider doing an after school wreath making session for teachers?

      Thanks Meredith! My heart wants to say, I would love to do an after school session with teachers but my mind knows better and says, teachers? after 3 p.m.? No thanks! And have you noticed, we are not as good listeners as we think we are?! LOL

Why Twitter

Wow, so on my last post I discussed PLNs (Personal Learning Networks). Although there are many different tools that can be used to connect to different networks, I have found Twitter to be quite fascinating. I was a bit skeptical at first, as I thought of Twitter as a platform for a younger audience. I possibly got this idea from my teenage kids that laugh at us adults that use Facebook. Anyhow, I have explored Twitter and have begun following many of my favorite groups that keep me up to date with strategies and politics on education. I like that I can instantly retweet something or I can view something and share the link externally via text message or email with my coworkers that are not on Twitter.
