680 Reflection

As this class, 21st Centuy Leadership Ed, comes to an end, I couldn't be happier. Don't get me wrong, I really enjoyed the class, but it came with some hurddles and mixed emotions. Plus, it's summer! I want to enjoy it, homeowork free!

Let's talk about a specific word in the course title...leadership. A few of the projects in this class had me thinking like an administrator. So at first, I was confused about why assignments like the Hiring Process, Learning Walks, and Professional Learning Development Workshops, just to name a few, were part of this course. Now I have a better understanding. If we are going to be part of the 21st Century classroom we must also think like 21st Century leaders. These assignments were challenging and I felt like I was preparing for the role of an administrator which is something I'm not seeking. However, I now a better appreciation for why we have to do certain things or possily how decisions were made for us.

As teachers we don't have control over things like what type of PD we are offered or we may not always understand  why certain decisons were made for but we can have an open mind and use the skills we've learned in this course to be a positive influence on others. It's like the #observeme movement. We must change the culture in our schools to motivate others to adapt to the 21st Century.

It's been fun, I enjoyed the discussions and ideas, but I'm ready for a homework free vacation! Enjoy the rest of your summer!
